RICKER ADKINS, DAT, LAT, ATC

Dr. Adkins uses his unique combination of passion, teaching aptitude and progressive training concepts to empower athletic trainers to reach their own critical thinking application of foundational knowledge and movement principles.

Upon receiving a BS Athletic Training at University of Delaware, Ricker worked with local high school sports teams before moving on to Eastern Kentucky University where he received the Mary Lloyd Ireland, MD Scholarship and completed an M.S. Exercise and Sport Science. Additionally, Ricker served as the athletic trainer for the Colonels women’s soccer and baseball teams, the latter of which won the Ohio Valley Conference regular season title for the first time in over 10 years during his tenure.

Dr. Adkins moved on to serve as the athletic trainer for all of the Georgetown College Tigers’ athletic programs, including the 2012 NAIA Division I men’s basketball national championship team. He also played an integral role in their Kinesiology Department’s re-accreditation from CAATE (Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education).

To advance his education, Ricker moved back to the east coast to complete his Clinical Doctorate in Athletic Training along with a certification for Teaching in Higher Education from Temple University. As a member of the Division I Owl’s athletic department he oversaw care for several teams including primary coverage of women's basketball, rowing and tennis, and men's soccer and crew. While there, he also served as an adjunct instructor and preceptor for the Kinesiology Department.

Currently, Dr. Adkins is an assistant professor in the Department of Athletic Training in Jefferson University’s College of Rehabilitation Sciences and a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association (NATA) and Delaware Athletic Trainers’ Association.
