S7
Flow
Stand with your feet roughly hip width apart. Hold the WAV with an over hand grip at the outer bands, arms at your side. Hinge evenly at the hips, knees and ankles to move into a squat position lowering the WAV towards the ground. Return to standing. Lower again to a squat. Rotate your pelvis and pivot on your back toe to spiral side to side within the squat position. Continue to spiral to the other side.
Focus
Provoke and facilitate the interaction of optimal core stabilization, rotational dynamics, balance of eccentric and concentric control as it pertains to joint centration, dynamic postural alignment, functional foot integration and overall sensory literacy/enrichment. This integrates all S1-S6 movement principles.
Cues
VERBAL: Remind yourself of the joy and playfulness of movement and how you wish to move through your life
BE MINDFUL: Not to round your spine and move from your pelvis with your knees and ankles aligned. * Do your shoulders remain stable and integrated with your trunk as the WAV flowss with you? * Feel the synergy between your trunk, hips, knees and feet as you maintain dynamic alignment.
WAV INTERACTION: Feel the interplay of your movement with the WAV. * Start calm and quiet. Move to smooth flow and soft sounds.
Common Compensations
- Breath Hold/Valsalva
- Decentration - Plantar Region
- Aberrant Weight Shifting
- Decentration - Pelvic Region
Modifications
AMPLIFY: Step up with pivoted foot.
MINIFY: Half squat keeping liquid quiet.
